Monday 9/11: Team 36 Rides Again!

Monday 9/11
Stage 4: Alcoa, TN to Clarksville, TN
270 Miles

As we told you yesterday, we had to say “see you later” to Renata, our 1928 Moto Guzzi. We managed to find a r0ad-ready 1937 Harley-Davidson UL to run the rest of the race. We’ve called the Harley “Salvatore,” which is Italian for “Savior.”

Hello, Salvatore!

Last night we stayed up to about 11:30 checking over the Harley. We fit a different seat to him, added saddle bags, the rally map box, additional lighting, reflective tape, the license plate, mirrors, and made sure he was ready for riding today.

We were up early this morning to do last-minute checks and assemble the other stuff Jonas needs to have with him. Like water, a snack, tools, insurance card, and a spare battery for his phone.

Look at all that beautiful KLIM gear!

Reviewing the last-minute course changes.

At 8:30 AM, Jonas kick-started Salvatore and they got on the road. Team 36 was back in the game!

And, we’re off! Salvatore’s first race day!

Jonas reports that Salvatore ran great today. There’s a list of things that need to be worked on tonight, but nothing that’s too critical. And we finished the entire day, earing 270 points. The team is obviously very exited that we’ll be continuing on.

This is Julie looking excited.

Tonight we we be working on that list of tweaks and learning what maintenance we need to do on a 1937 Harley UL.

Tomorrow: Stage 5. Clarksville, TN to Cape Girardeau, MO (198 Miles)
